Concord, New Hampshire – Warrenstreet Architects is pleased to announce the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter renovation project has received a Plan NH Merit Award of Excellence. Recognizing exemplary projects that embody the values of good planning, design, and/or development and that have had a positive impact on their respective communities, awardees were recognized at Plan NH’s annual awards evening held on June 26 at The Hotel Concord. The award was accepted by Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter Executive Director, Jane Goodman.
Principal Architect Jonathan Halle, AIA, ASLA (along with former Project Manager Zach Brock) led the design team which included TFMoran, Inc., Structural Engineer; WV Engineering Associates, MEP Engineer and Bonnette, Page & Stone, Construction Manager. The project involved the renovation and reuse of an 1892 former school into a 20,000 square-foot, 91-bed shelter, food pantry and resource center serving men, women and families of the Greater Nashua Area. Eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, the NSKS project was recognized as “an impressive transformation that demonstrates a strong commitment to the community and environment, an example of outstanding collaboration and teamwork and a humbling example of how bettering the built environment can be achieved in an encouraging and uplifting way that dignifies the human experience”.
